Most recently Hamish was the Australian Program Assistant for Parliamentarians of Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament (PNND), a bipartisan organisation with the sole goal of the abolition of nuclear weapons. 

PNND acts as a global support network for parliamentarians who are interested in nuclear disarmament. In this role Hamish took part in membership drives, administered the Australian membership list and assisted on a joint IPU/PNND book launch in Canberra, Australia.

Hamish has worked with the Centre for Peace-Building and Reconciliation (CPBR), a Sri Lankan based organisation working to foster pluralism through inter-faith dialogues and multi-ethnic youth programs. Hamish has also worked with the Humanitarian Crisis Hub (HCH), an Australian based organisation that works with diaspora communities from conflict affected countries. In this role HCH assisting the South Sudanese diaspora communities of Australia to reach polling stations during the referendum that saw the birth of an independent Republic of South Sudan. 

Hamish has completed both a Bachelor of Arts (Politics and Legal Studies) and a Master of Arts (International Relations) where he specialised in conflict and strategic issues. Hamish has always had an interest in limiting the recourse to war and became interested in the process of demobilisation, disarmament and rehabilitation after examining the phenomenon of warlordism.
